The Griffin iTrip is a renowned 3rd party product and has been on the market ever since the 1st generation iPod was released. It acts as an FM transmitter which allows you to listen to the songs on your iPod through any FM radio.

There's no need for you to deal with wires or go through complicated procedures to do this. The iTrip is a one piece device that conveniently connects to the top of any iPod. It requires no batteries as the iTrip is powered via the iPod. And if your iPod has a Dock connector the iTrip allows charging of the iPod even when in use.

The standard package of the iTrip contains the iTrip FM transmitter, a CD-Rom for installation and a Quick Start guide. Once installed and plugged in, the iTrip allows you to select a frequency from the range of 87.9 to 107.5. There's a red LED on the left side of the iTrip that blinks when a new frequency is selected.

However, sound quality may not be as good as some people would have expected it to be, but it is still acceptable and it varies from station to station. Several stations were tested while driving downtown and interference was minimal at certain frequencies while more at others.

Griffin created one model of the iTrip for both the 1st and 2nd generation iPods and another for the 3rd and 4th generation. There is also a model for the iPod minis and a special edition black iTrip made to match the iPod U2.

The iTrip is a convenient and wireless way for those who want to play their music through radios or car stereos. It allows you to share your music with others at a low price compared to hooking up your iPod to expensive external speakers made exclusively for the iPod.

Pros : Convenient, easy to use, suitable for car stereos without a cassette input, reasonable price compared to external speakers.
Cons : Average sound quality, interference may be bad at certain areas or frequencies.
