have rebranded the "Meeting-in-a-Box"
sessions as the Peachpit Experience Double Feature DVD. They've
combined the Photoshop World and Macworld conferences into one box
which contained 2 DVDs, popcorn, books and other goodies.
Our event was held at a
new venue called Outpost at Cineleisure Damansara. It's a sci-fi
memorabilia cafe and has a little meeting room at the back.
The show started around
8:20pm with the Photoshop World DVD. It contained highlights of
Photoshop gurus giving presentations at the Peachpit booth. There
were some really cool tips. Amongst them were Kevin Ames showing
how to retouch portraits to repair facial features (without having
to go through surgery!) and Richard Harrington demonstrating how
easy it was to use Blending Modes.
The Macworld DVD was also
full of wonderful pointers. Sandee Cohen revealed some very useful
shortcuts in Illustrator and the ever-entertaining Scott Kelby was...err....as
entertaining as ever! He showed how to correctly light your subject
in digital photography.
Each DVD contained about
7 or 8 speakers and they covered a wide range of topics. They were
all experts in their field and it was truly nice to see them share
their knowledge. And it was great to see that the audio and video
quality and editing of the DVDs have improved tremendously from
last year.
Throughout the night we
had lemonade and blackcurrant drinks and popcorn, sausage puffs
and cake to keep us going. The lucky draws at the end consisted
of mousepads and Photoshop books.
Thanks, Peachpit, for another
enjoyable session. Can't wait for next year!
