| Though
the invitation was for 7:00pm, the usually 'fashionably late' KL
crowd was already forming a long queue from the entrance of Zouk
spilling onto Jalan Ampang by 6:45pm. Perhaps the promise of an
"iPod U2 Party Bag for the first 200 people at the door"
was what the fuss was all about.
The party eventually kicked
off at around 8.20pm with an opening dance to U2's latest single
"Vertigo". Sad to say that the dance wasn't anywhere on
par with the iPod U2's quality and people were wondering if all
the female dancers were actually....er....female.
As with the iMac G5 launch
held a couple of months earlier, the MC for the night was Rudy from
Hitz.FM and luckily for us, there weren't any speeches throughout
the event. Rudy was good at spicing things up with his own brand
of humor and the crowd was fired up by the time local band Disagree
finished the last of their four songs - two originals and two covers
(a magnificent rendition of "With or Without You" but
a lame attempt at "Vertigo").
The highlight of the night
finally came: the chance to win an iPod U2! The audience was asked
to participate in a series of games, culminating in a final round,
and boy, do these people really want that iPod U2! The winner, a
guy named Hanson, after being dared to perform something crazy enough
to earn the iPod, beat the others hands down by kissing Rudy's derriere.
Though that kiss was enough for him to be crowned the grand winner,
Hanson had to endure another humiliation by having to kiss Apple's
Marketing Manager Christopher's derriere before Christopher handed
over the iPod.
A great night filled with
fun games and performances. For those who missed it, we have no
photos of the party to show you because we weren't allowed to take
our camera inside, so do make sure that you're there at the next
Apple event! |
